Washington State Hunter EducationThe SVRC offers the Washington State Hunter Education Certification classes to all interested individuals. This class is mandatory for any first time hunter born after January 1, 1972. If you are under 29 and want to buy a first hunting license, you must successfully complete this class. The class is open to everyone. There is no minimum age, however those under ten years of age generally have difficulty passing the tests. Younger students have passed, but this is not too common. Parents are encouraged take the course with their children, Moms too! Parent or Guardian permission is required for those under 18. A Washington State Hunter Education Certification card is recognized as proof of successful completion of a hunter education course by all 50 States and all Canadian Provinces. The course requires five days of classroom participation and one day at the rifle range. All class sessions must be attended. There is no make-up possible. Space in the class is limited and spaces are filling fast. The August class meets in the classroom on the 17th, 19th, 21st, 24th, and 26th. The range day is the 22nd. Classes fill up fast! Successful hunters plan ahead.
