  • Washington State Hunter Education

The SVRC offers the Washington State Hunter Education Certification classes to all interested individuals. This class is mandatory for any first time hunter born after January 1, 1972. If you are under 29 and want to buy a first hunting license, you must successfully complete this class.

The class is open to everyone. There is no minimum age, however those under ten years of age generally have difficulty passing the tests. Younger students have passed, but this is not too common. Parents are encouraged take the course with their children, Moms too! Parent or Guardian permission is required for those under 18.

A Washington State Hunter Education Certification card is recognized as proof of successful completion of a hunter education course by all 50 States and all Canadian Provinces. Pass this course and you can buy a hunting license any where in North America!

    Topics Covered

    • Firearms safety
    • Wildlife management
    • Conservation
    • Hunter ethics
    • Other subjects

The course requires five days of classroom participation and one day at the rifle range. All class sessions must be attended.  There is no make-up possible.  Space in the class is limited and spaces are filling fast.
